Westville July 29, Newton A. Choate of this city committed suicide by shooting himself. late Saturday and died at 6 p.m. Choate used a 32-caliber revolver, placing the gun against the left breast, the bullet entering two inches above he nipple passing through the body. Physicians were called immediately and pronounced the wound fatal. Choate remained conscious and talked rationally with friends and those about the bedside until a moment before he died
Choate was thirty years old, leaves a wife and an eight month old baby. Both families are widely and favorably known in western Arkansas and Oklahoma. No cause is alleged for his rash act, and was a great shock to the entire community.
