Howard T. Farmer, Sr., 82, of Columbus, died at St. Francis Hospital. Mr. Farmer was born August 27, 1922 in Rockdale County, Ga., to the late Sadie Chafin Farmer and the late James Monroe Farmer. He was a retired automobile dealer, life member of Rockdale VFW #5290 and 32nd Mason and Shriner. He was a former member of Jaycees, Kiwanis and Civitan Clubs. He was in the U.S. Navy in WWII as a Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Columbus. He was predeceased by his wife Edith Johnson Farmer and son Howard T. Farmer, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Farmer of Columbus; daughter, Alice (Danny) Powell of Pensacola, Fla.; granddaughter, Candace (Tim) Corley of Athens, Ga.; stepson, Will (Lisa) Barnes of Columbus; step-granddaughter, Madeleine Barnes of Columbus; four great grandchildren, Cameron, Rebecca, Maxwell and MacKenzie Corley of Athens; a sister, Nell Hargrove of Decatur; nieces and nephews.
