Bettie was the daughter of Chickasaw Robert Howard LOVE and enslaved woman, Margaret Ann (COLBERT) WILSON.

She is known for being the lead litigant of Equity Case 7071, a lawsuit seeking to transfer approximately 2000 people with similar claims of "Indian ancestry" to the Dawes Allotment Rolls as "Chickasaw by Blood" or "Choctaw by Blood."
