Spartanburg Hearld Obituary, May 22, 1910, page 1. Campobello - Critically Ill; March 22, Mr. MASSEY ATKINS, who has been reported sick for several weeks, is today at the point of death. His children have been called to his bedside, expecting the end at any time. Mr. ATKINS, is an aged Christian gentleman.
Spartanburg Herald Obituary, June 18, 1910, page 6. Mr. MASSEY ATKINS, who was reported very ill some weeks ago, died the 3rd. His funeral services were conducted by the Rev. A. T. JONES at Motlow Creek Baptist Church, after which the remains were laid to rest at that place. He leaves a wife, Mrs. HARRIET ANN PIGLER ATKINS, and six children, JOE, SAM, and DEAN ATKINS , Mrs. HENRY FARMER, Mrs. GOODLETT FISHER, and Mrs. MURIEL FOWLER. Mr. ATKINS was a straight forward, honest man and had been a member of the Motlow Creek Baptist Church for many years and a deacon. he was 68 years of age and had helped in building three churches in the Motlow community. The last one which was just completed a few months ago.
A Confederate States Of America Veteran. He served in the Home Guard.
