Bert grew up, married twice and settled in Florida where he sold real estate. He had three children, Bertram Jr. and Mary Francis, by his first wife, Ruby, and a third by his second wife, Florence. Their son, Curtis, was killed during the Six Day War in 1967 by Isreali aircraft gun fire. He was on a navy ship in the Mediterranean Sea monitoring the war. Bertram died in 1951 of cancer.
