Ione (promounced: i + own) was the daughter of Alma (nee Reed) and Harry E. Early. Her mother died unexpectedly when Ione was only 5 years old. She and her younger brother, Ken, went to live with their grandparents. They returned to their father's home, after his remarriage. Ione graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in Mission, Kansas and attended Texas Christian Womens' College, and later Parkville College where she earned an Associate Degree in Textiles.

Our family is forever indebted to our mother who tirelessly created an epic sized family genealogy - with a manual typewriter and countless trips to National Archives. She was married to Bill Alexander Bickell. Children: Terry Beth, Nancy Lin and William Harry. After being widowed in November of 1970, she remarried to widower Charles Snyder on July 29, 1973.
Ione was an avid gardener and grew prize winning roses. She was a proud member of both the DAR (National # 717639) and The Mayflower Society (#52302). Ione died from complications of Alzhiemer's Disease.
