Ruth was the third child of Richard and Germaine Le Secq Painter. She is fondly admired for her strong faith, love of family and friends, and beautiful smile. A graduate of Holy Angels, she had a special fondness for the Blessed Mother and angels, and would frequently comment that, "When you see a feather, you know your angel is nearby." As a child she crossed the United States and as an adult traveled to many shrines throughout Europe. She enjoyed athletics, beginning with winning the Washington State Tennis Championship in high school. She excelled in swimming and was famous for her Jack-knife dive. She always had time to be with her children and grandchildren, putting everything else aside to play a game of croquet, badminton, ping-pong, tetherball, volleyball and board games. She loved people and was often seen assisting and supporting them. She enjoyed tennis and was on several bowling leagues with her husband, Jack. She had a special fondness for all the animals in her life, especially Bruno. Her "little bit of heaven" was watching God's birds, and she had her husband build several birdhouses to be placed strategically throughout their yard. She marveled at the uniqueness of each flower, especially the rose. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Jack; her daughter, Tricia Tooman; and son, Gerry. She is survived by two daughters, one son, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one sister.
