Gerald Catlin, a thirteen year old lad who was spending the summer with his uncle, Daniel Kysor (sic s/b Kaiser), on his farm in Clam Lake Township was kicked in the
abdomen by a three year old colt while he was assisting in doing the chores at the farmyard last Saturday evening . He was turning the horse away in a pasture when the frolicking colt struck the kid with both of his hind feet. Mrs. Kysor (sic) witnessing the transaction from a window from their dwelling. The boy lingered in much distress until two 0' clock Sunday afternoon, when he died. He was visited by Dr. Ralston from this city , but the injuries were internal and beyond medical relief. The boy's home is in Syracuse, N.Y. and was visiting with his mother, who is a sister of Mrs. Kysor (sic). At the time of the accident and death she was visiting other relatives at Petoskey and news of the terrible occurrence reached her by a telegram sent by Mr. Kysor (sic).
