On November 18, 1939 she married the late Rev. Augustus "Gus" Anderson who preceded her in death on January 29, 1971. In 1972 Helen married Rev. J.C. Cole who passed away in 1982.
Helen along with her husband, Rev. Gus Anderson Pastored Christ Apostolic Church in Louisville, Kentucky and she also served as President of the Kentucky UPCI Ladies Auxiliary from 1958-1959.
She leaves behind two daughters, Karen S. (Rev. H. Ray) Perry of Battle Creek, Michigan and Madelyn R. (Rev. Roger) Shields of Russellville, Arkansas; a son, Rev. Michael (Kristene) Anderson of Houston, Texas; a brother, James (Jane Ann) Keen of Hillman, Michigan; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Helen is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and the Anderson and Cole families.
A service celebrating Helen's life will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 7 p.m. with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. at The Rock Church 4701 E. Manslick Road in Louisville, Kentucky where her family will officiate. A private interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
