James R. "Jim" Ball. 75 of Raven, died Dec. 11 in a Veterans hospital in Mt. Home TN, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Tazewell County and was a son of the late Rev. Albert and Eddie Horton Ball, both Tazewell County natives.
He was a retired miner & farmer and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a life long resident of the Raven area and was a member of the Pine Creek Pentecostal Church.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death one sister Ethel Short; and five brothers, Willard, Carness, Billy, Dewey, and Marvin Ball
Survivors; sons, Danny R, Ball of Raven, Steve R. Ball of Pounding Mill; daughter Mrs Kenneth (Melissa) Lawson of Raven; sister, Alta Lowe of Elkton MD, Oakley Carr of Piqua, OH, Myrtle Short of Raven; brothers, Damon Ball, Lawrence Ball and Donald Ball all of Raven; four grand children, Allen Ball, Bennen Ball, Kayla Ball, and Allison Lawson.
The funeral was conducted Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Jimmy Richardson and Rev Charlie McGlothlin officiating.
Interment followed in the Ball Family Cemetery on Road Ridge near Raven.
