Levia Frances Barnes was born on February 15, 1888 to Frank Douglas Barnes and Viola Marie Mourn-Barnes. The family lived in Valley Township in Reno County, Kansas around this time. Levia married Jesse Edward Houck on December 8, 1904 in Reno Co and had children: Elbert Lewis, Vada Bell Houck and another child, who died in infancy. Jesse died in 1956. The last residence for her that I can find is in Nickerson, Kansas before her death in Hutchinson in 1977.

Her name, Levia is an old family name, passed down to her from great-great grandmother, Leava Lewis-Beckley, daughter of Capt. John Lewis, Jr. and wife of Dr. Daniel Beckley, both veterans of the Revolutionary War.
