Mrs. Helen B. Andres, age 91 years, of Henley, Mo., died Friday, January 16, 2009, at the Jefferson City Manor Nursing Center. Helen was born March 1, 1917, in Henley, Mo., the daughter of Mathias and Matilda Kempker Goetz, both deceased. She was married on December 16, 1950, in Harrison, Arkansas, to Alfred Andres, who preceded her in death on February 2, 2007. In their 56 years of marriage, they resided in the Eugene and Brazito area. Helen attended elementary school at Oak Grove School and Immanuel Lutheran School in Honey Creek. At age 17, Helen moved to Jefferson City and lived with a family for whom she worked as a housekeeper. She later worked at the Lotus Tea Room, Tweedie Footwear Factory, and the Kroger Grocery Store. Helen was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, farmer, seamstress, cook, and gardener. She had wonderful sewing abilities and made most of the clothes for herself and her daughters. Her cooking was renowned in the area and no one turned down a chance to eat at her table. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Honey Creek. Survivors include: two daughters, Clarine Hart and her husband Cledis of Henley, Mo. and Myrna Andres of Jefferson City and her fiancé Todd Phillips of Henley, Mo.; one grandson, Travis Hart and his fiancée Melissa Mace, and Todd's children, Jeremiah, Gabrielle, and Heidi Phillips; three sisters, Frieda Siebeneck of Jefferson City, Mo., Clara Miller of Jefferson City, Mo., and Lorene Innes of Hammond, Ind.; one brother, Cletus Goetz of Jefferson City, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred Goetz and Elmer Goetz; and three sisters, Hilda Cottrell, Agnes Pistel, and Alma Goetz. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Honey Creek, Mo., with the Reverend Rick Swanson officiating. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Honey Creek, Mo. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4-7 p .m. Tuesday. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Immanuel Lutheran School, Honey Creek, Mo. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
