In Memory.
Death has again entered into our circle and taken from earth to Heaven a stately model, rightly termed a jewel, as truly such he did seem as a husband and father and citizen, Mr. J. J. Bishop. Indeed, his sufferings were intense, yet he bore them with all patience and fortitude, ever appealing unto the Lord to give him grace, to sustain him in his sore afflictions, and grace to die; and truly we have all evidence to believe that his spirit is now rejoicing around that happy throne, where sorrows are no more, for as we watched him dying he seemed so earnest as he exclaimed at the moment of death: "I want to go to rest." These were his last audible words. His death occurred on the evening of Sept. 16, 1915. How sad the stroke does seem, yet it was the will of god, and "He doeth all things well." He leaves a heartbroken family to mourn their loss – a wife, Mrs. L. J. Bishop, and five sons, Messrs. Alonzo, John Will, Oscar, Ulysses and Milford Bishop, all of Wadley, Ala.
All that is mortal of this body was laid away in the Darien Cemetery Friday, Sept. 17th. After comforting words, well spoken by Elders Shaddix, Hunt, Dunn and Laney in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends, his body passed from earthly hands to await the great morn of the Resurrection. - One Who Loved Him.
