"Andy" Darryl W. Anderson

"Andy" Darryl W. Anderson, 64, went to the great fishing hole in the sky with his wife and daughter by his side on May 15, 2009, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 22, at Church of the Ascension, Bismarck, with Rev. Marvin Klemmer officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5-9 PM on Thursday, May 21, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with a vigil service beginning at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Andy was born on June 10, 1944, to Wendell and Bernice Anderson (Parent) in Argyle, MN. Andy graduated from Argyle High School in 1962, and started working for Border States Electric while in Grand Forks continuing his education at Aakers Business College. He graduated from college in 1964 and enlisted in the Army. He was Honorably Discharged from the Army in 1967 and returned to work at Border States Electric where he was transferred to Fargo. On June 1, 1968, he was united in marriage with B. A. Together they had three children. In 1984 Andy was transferred to Bismarck as the in-town salesperson. Andy retired from Border States Electric after 41 years of service in March of 2006.

Andy had a great passion for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing on the Missouri River and his bi-annual fishing trips with his friends to northern Canada. Andy also enjoyed hunting, especially pheasants around Bismarck and mule deer in the badlands. He was always passing on the passion of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. Andy was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and Bismarck Ducks Unlimited.

Andy is survived by his wife, B.; his daughter, J. (K.) R., Bismarck, N.D.; his son, Master Sgt. USMC J. D. (J.) A., Okinawa, Japan; and six grandchildren; M., M., S., G., M., and I.; sister, J. (H.) M., Argyle, MN; brother, D. (L.) A., West Fargo, ND. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, L. A., Grand Forks, ND; brother-in-law, R. A., Milwaukee, WI; four step-sisters, D. B., Mayville, ND, M. (M.) H., Thompson, ND, D. (T.) M., Bottineau, ND, and F. (K.) H., Elbow Lake, MN; stepbrother, T. G., Argyle, MN; and numerous step nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Lee Anderson; his parents, and stepfather, Anton Gryskiewicz.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge.
