Roy and Thelma Beecher

A True Love Story found its culmination when Roy Beecher Feb. 3, 1915, and his wife Thelma Larson Beecher Oct. 17, 1918, passed away within three days of each other on November 6th, Thel, and November 9th, Roy, in 2008.

Roy and Thelma met while attending Jefferson Union High School in Daly City Calif.

They married in 1935 after Thel graduated.

Roy worked out of the docks in SF with the Teamsters, and in 1942 went to work for the Daly City Police Dept. where he rose through the ranks to assistant chief before retiring on Dec. 31, 1973.

His lovely Swedish bride Thelma worked at the Top of the Hill, Daly City at McGraw's Pharm. while raising their four children. Laughter and the joy of friends and family filled their home which was always open to all.

Upon retirement, Roy and Thel traveled and lived in Hawaii for several years before finally settling in Coronado, CA, to spend their sunset years together hand-in-hand. At 93 and 90 years, they were 3 weeks shy of their 73rd anniversary on the 30th of November. Now their Love continuing in the arms of the Lord.

Roy was born in Daly City, CA, to Arlington and Laura Goldkuhl Beecher; and was preceded in death by all his siblings: William, Albert, Edward, Dottie McKay, and Eileen Giomi.

Thel was born in St. Benedict, PA, to Joseph and Beda Larson and was preceded in death by her brother Milton Larson and sister, Ruth Giammona.

Roy and Thel were also preceded in death by two of their daughters Ruth L. Garay and Judy D. Battaglia.

They are survived by their daughter, Joy (Orval) Hogsett and son, Roy (Suzanne) Beecher and Ernie and Pearl Garay, nine grandchildren, and 17 great-grand-children.

The Lord is with them.
