Connie Anderson
Candida Olga (Connie) Anderson, 66, of 308 South Street, Pella, died Feb. 7 in Pella Community Hospital. Death was attributed to cancer.
The youngest of five children born to Antonio and Catherina Speziapietra Buttel, she was born May 8, 1919, in Centerville. At the age of 4 years, she moved with her mother and family to Italy, where they lived for four years. Her mother died there. In 1929, the children returned to the United States where they lived in Cicero, Ill., with their father. They then returned to Centerille, where she attended grade schools. She worked at several places in Centerville and Pella. She attended Beauty school in Ottumwa, and had worked as a beautician for about 20 years. She was operator of the Garden Beauty Shop in Pella until retiring because of her health. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pella.
She was married to Howard Raymond Anderson at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Knoxville Oct. 29, 1950.
Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Mary Battistello of Pella and Marguerite Craver of Centerville; three nieces and six nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Peter, and a sister, who died in infancy.
Services were held Feb. 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pella with the Rev. Stephen P. Ebel officiating. Graveside services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery, Centerville. For those desiring memorials may be designated for Hospice of Pella.
