Ven was born April 11, 1936 in Tremonton, Utah. Ven passed away March 3, 2009 in Burien, Washington following a long battle with leukemia. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but above all his family came first. One of his primary hobbies was photography and film making. Ven loved to travel, and use his photographic skills to document each trip. He was very outgoing and made friends easily with everyone he met.

Ven worked for Boeing as a Systems Analyst for 36 years retiring in 2002. Ven, along with his wife Carola, lived his dream of owning his own Sporting Goods Store for 19 years.

Ven is survived by his wife of 52 years Carola Alix, his mother Jennie Phillips, his daughters Sabrina (John) Jones and Loretta (Dennis) Thelin, his son-in-law Jeff Maijala, his brothers Derek Alix and Anthony Alix, his grandchildren Tarin Herron, Breanna Thelin, Dakota Maijala, and Kade Maijala. Ven was preceded in death by his daughter Venna Maijala, and his sister Michele Boswell.

A Funeral Mass in Ven's memory will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 1:00pm at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 30525 8th Ave. S. Federal Way, WA 98003. A Committal Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 11:00am at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery, 37600 Pacific Hwy. S., Federal Way, WA 98003. Memorials may be made in Ven's memory to the Highline Medical Center Oncology Dept., 16251 Sylvester Rd. SW, Burien, WA 98166.
