Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Downey officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis.
Granny was born Oct. 6, 1911, in Glen Allen, Ala., to the late Isaac Tucker and Nancy Aldridge Tucker. She attended schools in Glen Allen and Newlin. She moved to Hall County in 1924 from Glen Alan. She married John Harris McWhorter on Nov. 29, 1929, in Hollis, Okla. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1967. Granny worked as a seamstress for Tribble Cleaners.
She was a member of Travis Baptist Church.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Frankie and Jo David McWhorter; two daughters, Betty Joyce New and Johnnie Kay Bice; nine sisters; two brothers; two grandchildren, Jimmy New and Larry McWhorter; and a great-grandson, Heath Bishop.
Survivors include two sons, Keith McWhorter and wife Barbara of Panhandle and Gary McWhorter and wife Pat of Shamrock; two daughters-in-law, Virginia McWhorter of Higgins and Delores McWhorter of Memphis; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Fairview Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 265, Memphis, TX 79245; or Memphis Meals on Wheels, 202 S. Eighth St., Memphis, TX 79245.
