Story told by Lowell Benjamin Hughes ,About Our Great Grandparents, Sylvester and Sarah Hughes.

To my memory, The Year I visited Uncle Clarence & Family was Christmas of 1935, They lived on a farm a little ways out of Weslaco, Us kids went swimming in a canal there close,Xmas day I Thought that was something else to do that on Xmas.
Now to Grandma Sarah Elizabeth(lizzie) Hughes, Yes I knew Her well, I Guess You knew She was
bedfast for 30years Plus ( She had Palsey real bad) I don't know anymore particulars of Her Illness
I do not remember ever seeing Her out of Bed, Dad's two Sisters Emma & Annie took care of Her in their homes(Emma mostly). Grandpa Sylvester Hughes lived with us some & went to stay a while with Uncle Clarence in Edinburg Where He died in 1933, They had him shipped back to Okla. to our house,(before funeral I will never forget the Casket was in My bedroom over nite) of course everyone sat up with it, as was the custom in those days
They were both pretty religeous( Church Of Christ) If there's anything else that I can tell You I will be glad to, If I Know it OK?
Best thing would be For You to come by to see Me some time & We could talk up a Storm.
With Love Lowell.
