Sergeant, 2 Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, based in Shilo, Manitoba. Aged 28, he was killed in an automobile accident five kilometres south of the military base.

Sgt Schofield was born in Sackville, Nova Scotia. He attended high school at Millwood High School where he was well known for his great sense of humor and big heart. Shane loved playing on the school hockey team and his dressing room name was Juke Box reflecting his passion for music. In July 1999, after high school, Shane joined the Canadian Forces and served four overseas tours of duty, one in Bosnia and three in Afghanistan.

A devoted husband and father, he loved spending time at home with his family. He was an avid hockey fan and also enjoyed playing recreational hockey with the Wawanesa Jets in his spare time.

Sgt Schofield is survived by his wife Rene, sons Teegan and Layne, parents Charlton and Cathy Schofield, brother Brett Schofield, Rene's parents Darrell and Denise Boughton, and brother-in-law, Ryan (Lisa) and their son, Caleb.
