Nicholasville: Hugh C. "Buddy" Adams, Jr., 82, of West Maple Street died Wed., Jan. 31, at the St. Joseph Hospice Care Center. He was a native of Hopkinsville, Ky. born Dec. 10, 1924, to the late Hugh C., Sr. and Alice Gaines Adams. Buddy was a member of the Nicholasville Christian Church, where he had served as a Deacon, a veteran of the US Army Air Corp and had retired in 1983 as a school administrator in Jessamine County. He was a graduate of Transylvania University where he as a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and the University of Kentucky where he was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity. Buddy had been a member of many organizations which include the Burgin Lions Club, past president of the Nicholasville Lions Club, the Nicholasville Rotary Club, the Lexington Champions Against Drugs and Alcohol, RSVP Advisory Board, Lexington/Jessamine County having served as chairman for 2 years, Lexington Volunteer Center Board, Jessamine County RSVP, charter member of the Jessamine County AARP, served as chairman of the Nicholasville Senior Citizens Center Board, Jessamine County Red Cross Board, Ombudsman Board in Nicholasville, Jessamine County Educational Foundation Board, Jessamine County Project Read Board, one term on the Lone Oak Country Club Board, the Jessamine County Retired Teachers, the Seniors Legislative Research Commission, Jessamine County Cancer Society, American Association of School Administrators, was President in 1973-1974 of the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents , was a charter member of the Jessamine Council of the Arts and served as their president in 1986. He is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years Mary Helen Vanarsdalle Adams, 3 children Jerry Adams and wife Suzanne, Lexington, Cheryl Gould and husband Jan, Jessamine County, Mary Beth Estill and husband Bobby, Indiana, a foster daughter Fanny Sorkey, Georgia, 4 grandchildren Chuck Adams, Camryn, Brevyn, and Ciara Estill, a great grandchild Charlie B. Adams, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded

in death by a sister Margaret Wilson.

Services will be 12:00 noon Mon., Feb. 5, at Nicholasville Christian Church with Rev. Greg Porterfield, Rev. Jeff Mandrell, and Rev. Bob Mallory officiating, burial in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Damron, Jan Gould, Bobby Estill, Ben Brown, Garry Simpson, Jonathon Prasse, Chuck Adams, and Lin McCuddy. Honorary bearers will be Pete Royse, Charles Fugitt, Jimmy Wells, Donnie Montgomery, George Vanarsdalle, H. R. Ford, Bill Cox, Howard Downing, Neal Cassity, Carl and Sue Megee, Dr. Stephen Royse, and Dr. James Gay.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Sat., Feb. 3, at HAGER & CUNDIFF FUNERAL HOME, W. Oak St. and Sun., Feb. 4, from 2 to 6 PM at Nicholasville Christian Church, W. Maple Street. The family request in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his memory to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Nicholasville Christian Church.
