Funeral Rites For
Gustaf Anderson

Funeral rites were held yesterday afternoon for Gustaf Anderson, 74 year old pioneer of this community, who passed away suddenly last Friday afternoon after a brief illness of pneumonia and heart trouble.

Mr Anderson was born in Sweden on December 10, 1857. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Sweden and ws marred to Miss Carolina Petterson on March 12, 1881. Seven children were born to this union, four of whom preceded their parents in death.

Mr and Mrs Anderson came to America in 1887, settling at St Croix Falls. A year later they moved to North Branch, where they settled on a farm southeast of North Branch and where they have made their home until death took them to their eternal reward.

Mr Anderson was a member of the North Branch Lutheran church for forty-one y ears, being active in the service of his church.

The funeral services were conducted first from the home at 1:30 and then from the church at 2 o'clock. Rev G Peterson assisted Rev V Olson with the services. Vocal numbers were sung by Mr Eugene Schyttner and Mrs L Collin. Interment was in Lutheran Hope Cemetery.

Left to mourn the passing of this beloved pioneer are two daughters, Mrs Sophie Erlandson and Mrs Augusta Bergstrahl, and one son, Claude Anderson, a brother at Rush City and a brother and two sisters in Sweden. Mrs Anderson passed away in 1922.

The church was filled with relatives and friend of the departed, who gathered to pay their last respects to a friend and neighbor. Beautiful floral tributes adorned the casket and a grave of this pioneer whose work on earth is done and who has passed to his eternal reward. May he rest in peace!
