Adrain Deneen Angleton, 70, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Alton Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 15, 1938, in Cave-in-Rock, Ill., and was the son of the late Adrian HC Angleton and late Hazel (Brown) Angleton.

He married Ethel Jane (Stagner) Angleton April 21, 1958. She preceded him in death.

He retired from McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in 1995 after 37 years of service as an illustrator and technical writer. He was also retired from the U.S. Army Reserve after 38 years of service at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He commanded the 254th Maintenance Co. in St Louis and the 3/340th Battalion in Quincy. His last military assignment was as logistics assistance officer for Fort Chafee, Ark., in support of Desert Storm. At the time of his death, he was employed by Herlacher Angleton Associates LLC as an illustrator and senior technician. He was a longtime member of the South Roxana Dad's Club. He was an avid beer label collector and was a member of the BCCA and the American Breweriana Association.

Surviving are his son and wife, Darrell and Carrie Angleton of Alton, and their children, Christopher and Andrew; daughter and husband, Deana and Dale Griggs of South Roxana and their children, Nicholas Angleton and Erica Griggs; brother and sister-in-law, John and Chris Angleton of St. Charles, Mo.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Joel Schmidtt of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; two sisters, Carol Jean Angleton and Beverly McLain; and a daughter, Karen Renee Angleton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 1. Burial with military honors will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.

Memorials may be made to the South Roxana Dad's Club.
