Martha Jane Walton, 91, of Bryan passed away Saturday, November 2, 2008, at her residence in Bryan. Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, at Willow Hole Cemetery in North Zulch, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 3, at Trevino Smith Funeral Home in Bryan. She was a lifelong resident of Bryan. She enjoyed gardening raising her chickens and baking her special fruit cakes known to have had a nip of Brandy in them unbeknownst to some of her children. You would often find her in her apron working steadily around her home she will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard L. and Ella D. Hewett, 4 sisters, 3 brothers, 1 son, and her loving husband, Truman Walton. Survivors include daughters and a son-in-law, Margaret J. and Roy Acosta, Hazel Walton, and Ann Walton all of Bryan; brother, Ben Hewett of Tow, Texas; 4 grandchildren; 9 great- grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
