Clarence was born in Thayer Nebraska 1898. He moved to Minnesota with his parents in 1906 to an area Southwest of McGuirre Lake where they cleared land and began farming. He was married to Martha Scherland in 1919. They had 7 children.
Clarence worked in the mines during WWII as a heavy equipment operator and after the war worked for the Itasca County Road and Bridge Department and was a foreman when he retired.
After his retirement he lived in the Seattle area for a short time then returned to Minnesota and remained here until his death.
