Harold A. "Tom" Ellingsworth, 77, entered Eternal Rest on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Fern Creek, KY on July 24, 1931 and along with his parents, started Rolling Acres Farm in March of 1946 in Clark County, IN. He graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1949 and began raising Holstein cattle. He made dairying the main farm enterprise which carried on through the early 1990's and continued grain farming through the fall of 2008. In 1967, he received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award from the Jeffersonville Jaycees, in 1972 he was elected to the Clark Rural Electric Board of Directors where he served for 15 years and was also elected the Indiana Statewide Electric Association where he served as past secretary, vice president and president. He also served on the State Agriculture Committee under Vice President Dan Quayle, the Perrin Park Board of Directors and in 2007 received a Noah's Ark Angel Award for his contributions. He was a member of the Sellersburg American Legion, the Sellersburg Moose Lodge and the Clark County Casting and Conservation Club. He was also a lifetime member of the Jeffersonville Evening Optimist Club, Optimist Youth Foundation and the Jeffersonville Eagles Club, where he spent many enjoyable hours playing poker. He is survived by his wife, Janet Bennett Ellingsworth, Jeffersonville, IN; a son, Thomas (Sherry) Ellingsworth, Jeffersonville, IN; two daughters, Sylvia Miller, Jeffersonville, IN; Terri (Robert) Rickel, Elkhart, IN; two granddaughters, Kathryn Daly (Eric), Jeffersonville, IN and Elizabeth Scott (William), Jeffersonville, IN; a great-grandson, Nicholas James Daly, Jeffersonville, IN; three sisters, Norma Bond (Orin), Fisherville, KY, Juanita Schlosser (Charles), Jeffersonville, IN and Martha "Jane" Brangers, Jeffersonville, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garnett and Ethel Ellingsworth; a son, Clark Ellingsworth; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Miller. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Scott Funeral Home's North Chapel, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday at Scott Funeral Home's North Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Noah's Ark Children's Village of Jeffersonville, or Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
