Roxy Myrtle Cantrell was born 23 April 1893 in Marshall County, Alabama. She was the daughter of William Harrison Cantrell
and Joanna Drucilla Waldrip Cantrell. She grew up in Marshall County, Alabama.

She married Henry Grady Burdette
17 May 1913 in Marshall County, Alabama when she was 20 Years of age. Myrtle and Grady had three children together; Jewell Pearl Burdette, Henry Dolphus Burdette, and Thomas Edward Burdette.

Myrtle died when the flu epidemic came through 12 November 1918 in Marshall County, Alabama at age 25. She had two small children and a young baby. Myrtle's sister, Maude Elizabeth Burdette, who was married to Grady's brother, Spivey Eugene Burdette. Maude and Spivey took the small baby, Thomas Edward Burdette and raised him as their own. The other two small children went with their father to Florida.
