Mars Hill - Agnes Blankenship Banks, 86, of 384 Watershed Road, Mars Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at her residence.
She was a native of Yancey County, having lived most of her life in Madison County. She was a former employee of Brown Manufacturing.She was the daughter of the late John Lee and Della Chandler Blankenship. She was also preceded in death by her son, Harold Banks, three brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her daughter, Irene Leonard and husband, Cherry Staples, of Newport News, Va.; sister, Willie Morris of Burnsville; three grandchildren, Debra Burleson, Dean Powell and Donna Cole; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchilren.
Gap Baptist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. Rotha Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery.
