LEXINGTON-A fire late Wednesday took the life of Carl Lee Briles. Mr. Briles was found in a vacant house at 278 Winston Road. Fire officials report that the fire began in the living room area. The cause of the fire hasn't been determined. Mr. Briles is a resident of the Jackson Creek community in Randolph County. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Mar. 26th at Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, Rev. Ray Swaney conducting. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Born Sept. 28, 1944, in Randolph County, a son of Flake and Edna Williams Briles. Survived by his four sisters, Mary Kindley and husband, Hubert, of Lexington, Ruth Small of Randleman, Bertie Lemmons of Julian, Barbara McDowell of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one brother, Harold Lee Briles and wife, Shirley, of Trinity. Several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companions, Buck, Faye, Kate and Sugar. Mr. Briles will remain at Family Funeral Care, 18 Randolph St., until placed into the church thirty minutes before the service. The family will receive friends at Family Funeral Care on Saturday from 6-8 p.m., and other times at their respective homes.
