A funeral service will be held for Robert Terrel Adams, 83, of Coos Bay, at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the First Baptist Church, 1140 S. 10th St. in Coos Bay with Pastor Gary Rice officiating. Private interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Coos Bay.

Terrel was born Jan. 25, 1926, in Warren, Ark., the son of Robert Benton and Eula Jane (Smith) Adams. He died March 1, 2009, in Coos Bay.

He married Wilma Gene Ashcraft on Jan. 12, 1946, in Rye, Ark.. They moved to Coos Bay in 1952. Terrel worked for Weyerhaeuser as a mechanic on the Allegany side for 34 years, retiring in 1986. He was a lifelong member of the Baptist church and a member of the First Baptist Church of Coos Bay. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and camping. He was very family oriented and loved to walk.

Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wilma Adams of Coos Bay; children, Tom Adams of Springfield, Lynette Adams of Coquille and Mike Adams and wife, Maryann of Coos Bay; sister, Geneva Curry of Rison, Ark.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church, 1140 S. 10th, Coos Bay, OR 97420.

Arrangements are under the direction of Coos Bay Chapel, 267-3131.
