Paul's line can be traced back nine generations to Thomas Marston who was born circa 1435 in Bastwick, Norfolk co, England.

He is the son of Caleb and Jerusha (Smith) Marston. At the Battle of Bennington, he was a corporal in Captain Eben Webster's company. He settled in the Flaghole District of Andover about 1770.

Paul married 1st in February 1763, Catherine, daughter of Henry and Catherine (Marston) Elkins of Rye, N.H. She was born in June 1741. Her father is Jonathan Elkins and her mother is Joanna, probably the daughter of Henry and Ruth Robie of the seacoast area. He married 2nd, about 1722, Anna Trow, who died March 14, 1821 æ 85. The name Trow soon corrupted to True in America's early history.

Other than the four children shown on this page, there are three others:
•Abigail who was born April 29, 1764. She married Parker Cross and resided in Northfield.
•John who was born September 10, 1770, and died 1814. He married in 1798, Mary Locke.
•Catherine who was born September 29, 1774 in Andover. She married on November 2, 1796, Samuel Scribner. Samuel is the son of Captain Josiah and ___(Cross) Marston was born August 18, 1774 in Andover and died November 8, 1844 in Washington, Orange co, Vermont.
