Jim Haynes began his racing career riding motorcycles, then switched to Sprint Cars in 1978. Jim was based in Florida where he competed with the Tampa Bay Area Racing Association. Jim was named The Most Improved Driver in 1979 and finished second in points in 1984. Jim received injuries that would prove fatal on Feb. 24, 1985 while competing in the Copper World Classic at Phoenix International Raceway. Jim passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 1985.
