Hello, I am Paul Herbert Raines, born Nov. 16, 1945. I am the son of Alfred Otis Raines 1906-1980 and Theresa Catharines (Miskho) Raines 1920-1996 second wife of Alfred, I believe his 1st. wife was Alice. My father is the son of Fred Ward Raines 1877-1932 and Alvine Getmin. My father must have been the black sheep of the family. He never spoke of his brother Harry. All he ever said was his parents both died of heart attacks in their 50's. He said his father owned an apple orchard and had just the 3rd car in Darien Center.I just began this search yesterday so I don't have much to add. Alfred and Theresa were married in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1943 or 1944. Theresa was a radio operator for the Coast Guard and my father worked in Buffalo, N.Y. for Bell Helicopters at the time they met.
They lived in Canada just across the border in the 1940's but my maternal grandparents wanted me born American, so they stayed at Theresa's parents until I was born at DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda and then moved back to Canada. I have lived here all my life but remain a U.S. citizen. I hope this little bit helps because as far as I know my father had no contact with his family for many, many years.
