She was married to John Michael Dersch, June 1844. To this union were born seven children, six daughters and one son. They came to america in 1856 and settled in Iowa county. The children are Mrs. John VanKirkove of Minnesota, Mrs. Charles VanKirkove of North English, Mrs Lewis Gillig of Muscatine, Mrs. Gerome Feister of Deep River, Mrs C B Grimm of North English, and J W Dersch of Webster. One daughter died in infancy. The husband and father departed this life on November 14, 1886.
She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran church in childhood. After coming to america she united with the German Evangelist Church of which she has been a faithful member all these years.
She was a faithful wife and mother, a kind neighbor and sympathizing friend. She leaves to mourn her departure, six children, 26 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren, and one great great great grandchild, and many friends and neighbors. The funeral services conducted by Reverend E C Brooks, were held in the Methodist Episcopal Church of Millersburg on Wednesday, November 4th, at 10 am and were attended by a large company of friends and former neighbors. The remains were buried in the Millersburg cemetery by the side of her husband. The family wish to thank the neighbors and friends for all the kindness shown to them.
