Mr. William Garner, 84, one of the best known citizens of the county, died at his home at Burnetta Friday. For many years he engaged in farming and lived a useful life, being respected by all who knew him. He had been a member of the Baptist Church for many years and took a keen interest in all the church activities. He is survived by five sons, Messrs. Charles, Jake, and Wesley Garner of Flat Woods, Squire Prate Garner of Waterloo, and Mr. Nick Garner of Burnetta. The funeral service was held Saturday at the home of Mr. Nick Garner, Rev. Wesley Colyer officiating. Interment was in the family cemetery, Rev. James Henderson officiating at the grave. Many friends sympathize with the family in their bereavement.

The death angel made its appearance in this community last Friday morning at 6 o'clock and claimed "Uncle Will" Garner, 84 years old. Mr. Garner had been in poor health for some time, but bore his suffering patiently. "Uncle Will" was a devoted member of the Baptist Church at this place and was very active in church work as long as his health permitted. Funeral services were held at the home of his son, Nick Garner, Saturday, Rev. Wesley Colyer officiating. Interment was in the family cemetery. Rev. James Henderson officiated at the grave. "Uncle Will" leaves five sons, Charlie, Jake, and Wess, of Flat Woods, Squire Pate Garner of Waterloo, and Nick Garner of this place, and a number of grandchildren to mourn his passing. One son preceded him to the grave two weeks ago. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved in their dark hour. -- The families of Charlie, Jake, and Wess Garner were here Saturday to attend the funeral of "Uncle Will" Garner.
