VISTA -- James Joseph "Jay" McHale, 65, died Friday, May 23, 2003, at St. Bernardino Medical Center in San Bernadino, CA.

Born March 5, 1938, in Scranton, Pa., he lived in San Diego County for 33 years. He was in general construction for 48 years.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Vista and the Moose Lodge of Big Bear.

Mr. McHale is survived his ex-wife of over 40 years and friend Zella McHale, sons Jeff McHale and James P. McHale, both of Vista; daughters Elana Wagner and Kelly Sterling, both of Oceanside; sister Marion McHale of Bakersfield; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel, Vista, CA. with the Rev. Hal Seed officiating. A private cremation was planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Mr. McHale's memory to a charity of choice.
