James L. "Jimbo" Kirkland, 53, of Liberty, died of natural causes at his residence
Visitation is 5:30 to 8 tonight at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, then 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church near Liberty until services there at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dusty Rhodes, Dr. Ron Kirkland and the Rev. James Sadler will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Liberty.
Mr. Kirkland was born July 20, 1954, in Shreveport, La. He was the son of Benton L. and Virginia Caston Kirkland.
He was a self-employed carpenter and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Mr. Kirkland was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pat Boykin.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Shannon Kirkland and Justin and Leigh Kirkland, all of Liberty, and Jamie and Daphne Kirkland of Hattiesburg; two grandsons, Benton Kale Kirkland and James Kevin Kirkland, both of Liberty; two granddaughters, Ivey Elise Kirkland of Liberty and Rylee Kay Kirkland of Hattiesburg; a brother, Dr. Ron Kirkland and wife Sue of West Memphis, Ark.; two sisters, Brenda Harvey and husband Early of Orange Beach, Ala., and Vicky Hays of Covington, La.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
