Brian Beachy was born September 25, 1977 in Batavia, New York, the son of Thomas A. Beachy and his wife, Karen J. Swartzendruber Beachy.
Brian was a 1995 graduate of Laker High School, Pigeon, Michigan, and a 1999 graduate of Michigan State University, earning a Bachelor degree in Biology/Zoology. Continuing his studies in Conservation Ecology, Brian earned a Masters degree at SUNY at Albany, New York, and he was currently a PhD candidate in Forest Science at Michigan Technological University. Most recently, Brian was employed as a conservation educator with Michigan Natural Features Inventory in Marquette, Michigan.
Brian was a member of the Pigeon River Mennonite Church in Pigeon. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, bird watching, golfing, canoeing, and gardening. Brian also enjoyed wood working and was an artist and a musician.
He was dearly loved by his wife, Jessica (Metzger) Beachy of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, whom he met at Michigan Technological University, and married May 19, 2007; his parents, Thomas and Karen Beachy of Urbana, Ohio; paternal grandfather, Calvin Beachy of Corfu, New York; his sisters, Jennifer A. (Thomas L.) Eshleman & their children, Kayley, Tanner, and Janessa, all of Akron, Pennsylvania, and Joanna K. (Garret D.) Buehler of Mechanicsburg, Ohio; his mother & father-in-law, Alan & Carmen Metzger of Plymouth, Michigan; and his brother-in-law, Kirk Metzger; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Aurelia (Kipfer) Beachy and maternal grandparents, Lawrence Swartzendruber and Iva (Gunden) Swartzendruber.
