Mrs. Alice Cress
New Heatford - Mrs. Alice Cress, 85 of Graffenburg Road, widow of Colin Cress, died yesterday in the Oneida House Annex, 2 Newell St.
She was born in Ivy-Lee, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of Charles and Margaret Kavanaugh Shipman. She moved to Clayton as a child. At the age of 18 she moved to Mohawk. She was married to Mr. Cress in 1902.
For 25 years the couple operated a farm on Brockway Road, Town of Frankfort. Mr. Cress died in 1946. Since her husband's death Mrs. Cress had lived in the Utica area. She had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Albert (Alice), Dewhurst, for the past five years.
She was a member of the Liscomb-Ross-Wheeler Auxiliary of the Spanish American War Veterans and the Military Order of Lizards.
The funeral will be at 11:00 Thursday from the Surridge & Roberts Memorial Home with the Rev. Frank L. Scott, pastor of Entenary Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Norwich Corners Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow. The Spanish American war Veterans Auxiliary will have ritualistic services at 8P.M tomorrow.
