Amy Joy Apgar, 28 years old, beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed on to a more comfortable place on Sunday, Jan. 30 in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Amy admirably and courageously fought a year and a half long battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Throughout her life, she touched all who had the pleasure of knowing her and inspired all who came in contact with her. Amys strength was immeasurable, her smile and caring way unforgettable. She lived her life with a style and grace all its own. She was genuine to the core. To have known her was to love her, and she was loved by all. Amy completed both her bachelors and masters degrees, both with highest honors, at Shippensburg University. She went on to teach special education in the Parkland School District, first at Fogelsville Elementary and then at Springhouse Middle School. Amy took great pride in her work, thoroughly enjoyed those she worked with and loved and truly cared about every student she taught. Survivors: Adoring husband and best friend, Jeffrey David Apgar; their beautiful daughter, Hannah Joy. Shes the wonderful daughter of proud parents, Dennis and Jeanne Trexler Sr. She is the sister to Rebecca M. Trexler and Dennis Trexler Jr. and his wife, Shirley; aunt to their children, Cody and Shana. She is the daughter-in-law to David Apgar; sister-in-law to Sonja, wife of Gary Brunner. She is the godmother to Kinsey Brunner and Kadence Slivka. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Grace Lutheran Church, Hall and St. John streets, Allentown. Call 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday in the church. Arrangements, Stephens Funeral Home, Allentown.
