The York Daily, Wednesday May 24, 1899

Mrs. Mary Ann Sterner, widow of the late Henry Sterner, of Manheim Township, died Monday evening at her home near Hobart post office, aged 81 years, 7 months and 21 days. Death was due to dropsy, from which she had a been a sufferer for some months, although she had been confined to her bed only since Saturday.
Deceased was a Miss Herbst before her marriage, and for the past nineteen years she has been a widow.
Three sons and seven daughters survive her: Oliver Sterner, of Manheim Township; Levi Sterner, of Baltimore; Henry Sterner, of Carroll County; Mrs. Abdel Smith, Mrs. C. A. Grote and Mrs. Oliver Kessler, of Manheim Township; Mrs. Jacob Wonder, of Penn Township; Mrs. Ephraim Shue, of Carroll County; Mrs. Jacob Myers, of Baltimore County, and Miss Amelia Sterner, at home.
The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock, from the house. Services and interment at Dubs' Church. Rev. J. A. Metzger will officiate.
