Ret. MAJ Serge Ronald Dube, Age 77, a resident of Bradenton, FL died on October 2, 2008 surrounded by his loving wife, siblings, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

His loving wife and best friend of 26 years, Thelma LaVonne Dube and his dog Peppi survive Serge.

Serge lived his life as a humble husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and patriot. Serge was very clear about his loves in his life-his wife, his beloved dog Peppi, and his special relationship with his brother Marcel "Mac" J. Dube, -they were joined at the hip as warriors to protect the country they love, God and his loving family. Serge cherished all of his family, friends and fellow men and women of the United States Military for their individual uniqueness and qualities. His love of family, God and Country was unconditional.

Serge was born September 21, 1931 in Brunswick, Maine. Serge is the beloved son of Leo and Lucille Dube of Brunswick Maine. Serge's father was a Master Joiner at Bath Iron Works in Bath, ME and his mother was the Manager of the Notions Department at Senters Department Store in Brunswick, ME

Ret. MAJ Serge Dube served 28 years The United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Serge was stationed in Quantico, VA when he retired. While in the United States Marine Corps Serge was awarded several medals and honors that included: Korean Service Medal w/5*, National Defense service Medal w/1*, United Nations Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Commendation, Presidential Unit Citation w/2*, Good Conduct Medal w/4*, Vietnam service Medal w/2*, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/(60-), Navy Commendation Medal w/ combat V, Combat Action Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation and Bronze Star.

Serge was a lifetime member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Marine Corps League, and The American Legion.

Serge loved his siblings and was very proud of what they and their respective families have accomplished in life. His brother Ret. COL Marcel "Mac" J. Dube resides in CA, his sister Natalie Ketter resides in CT, his sister Pierrette Renaud resides in FL and his brother Michael Dube resides in CT.

His children are all very proud being "a Marine Corps Brat". They are Marilyn Anne Cobain of Choctaw, OK, Patricia Eugenie Lehtma of Stafford, VA, Debra Lucille Cobb of Inverness, FL, Scott Cordell Ecklin of Woodbridge, VA, Ronald Leo Dube of Dumfries, VA and Marcella Ann Ecklin of Woodbridge, VA.

His Grandchildren, who loved their Grandpa and "Pop Pop" and truly understand their grandfathers dedication and service to preserving the protection of our Country and the Friends of our Country are: Matthew Allen Cobb, Jacqueline Marie Cobb Harris, Audrey Sewald, Michael Ecklin, Brian Cobain, Jason and Cassie Hart, Ronald Coulter and Lucy Cobb.

Serge is survived by his great-grandchildren who recently honored their great-grandfather with a dedication brick at the Marine Corps Museum, dedicating his service in Korean Conflict and Vietnam Ware are: Allen Todd Miley, Scott Wesley Miley, Cody Thomas Winokur, Eleanor Sewald, Hanna Cobain and Thomas Sewald.

Family and Friends are invited to celebrate Serge's life on Thursday, October 9, 2008 from 6-8 PM at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road, Woodbridge, VA 22191. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 9 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to: Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, In Memory of Ret. Maj Serge R. Dube, P.O. Box 998, Quantico, VA 22134-0998.
