Doris Jean Mckinney (sic), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Mckinney (sic), 159 D Street, became the bride of Pfc. Sylvester W. Brownawell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Brownawell, 349 Fourth Street, on Sunday afternoon, April 16.

The double ring ceremony was performed by Chaplain Barnhouse in Chapel Number One, Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Gibson, Oceanport, N.J. They are now residing at 47 Main Street, Oceanport.

The bride was formerly employed by the Carlisle Paper Box Company. Pfc. Brownawell was stationed in Japan for the past 26 months.

Sylvester W. Brownawell, 68, of 5145 Susquehanna Trail, died Monday, May 24, 1999 in the Lebanon VA Hospital Hospice Care Unit.

Retired from BMY of York as a precision inspector, he was an Army and Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 945.

He was the widower of Doris J. McKinney Brownawell.

Mr. Brownawell is survived by his mother, Rebecca Sipe Brownawell McCallister of Carlisle; a son, Robert L. of York; a daughter, Connie B. Sellers Hunsinger of Pratville, Ala.; a brother, Jack of Mildord, Del.; a sister, Nancy B. York of Carlisle; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be private.
