He was born in Carteret County, North Carolina, August 14, 1860; died at Broad Creek, Carteret Co, NC, April 12, 1921; buried at Broad Creek, Carteret Co., NC.
Alex married in Carteret County, North Carolina, March 25, 1886 (1875), Tabitha Garner Rowe, daughter of Mary Jane "Polly" Roberts and Elijah Garner, and widow of William Benjamin Rowe (1855-1881). Tabitha was born in North Carolina August 22, 1862; died at Broad Creek, Carteret Co., NC, December 14, 1935.
John and Tabitha donated the land for the Broad Creek community cemetery on March 25, 1886.
They had five children:

(2) Bessie Adams, b. NC Jan. 1889, m. Clem Fulcher
(3) Etha (Eather) Adams, b. NC Nov 1893, m. Solomon Lewis
