Ross Ragland was the son of Ulyssess S. and Stella M. Ragland of siskiyou, Oregon.
Ross Ragland married Marie Collier April 26th, 1942 in the Chapel of the Amry Presideo in San Francisco shortly after Ross enlisted in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army at the beginning of World War II.
They met in 1940 at a Presbyterian Church social function while both were teachers in the Klamath County Schools.
Ross attended Ashland grade schools graduating from Ashland High School in 1934 and Southern Oregon Normal School as a certified teacher in 1937. He also continued his schooling at the University of Oregon and Stanford University.
After 4 years in the service of the U.S.Army, Marie and Ross returned to Tulelake, California in 1946 where Ross worked as manager for 7 years at Tulelake Cold Storage Company a branch of Klamath Ice and Storage Company, owned and managed by Marie's father Andrew M. Collier. Both Ross and Marie were active in civic organizations in Klamath Falls.
