On Saturday, January 17, 2004 at the age of 6 as a result of cancer therapy at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Kids. Tanya fought 3 courageous battles with cancer in her short life. Though her life was often filled with hospitalization and treatment, Tanya remained strong and determined that one day she would regain her health. It is with great sadness to those who knew Tanya that she was unable to overcome the terrible diseases with which she was afflicted. Her legacy lives on in the things she loved. Animals were one of the things she loved dearly and she often spoke of her wish to become a veterinarian. The cottage was also one of her favorite places to be and she spent hours playing on the beach, around the fire and fishing with her dada, but her favorite place to be was home in her easy chair or watching movies with her family while lying on "bed on the floor".

She will be sorely missed, fondly remembered and forever loved by her parents Scott and Elaine (nee Larose), her little sister Jessica, gramma Val and grampa Bob Larose, gramma Deanna and grampa Vic Edwards. Predeceased by her grampa Douglas Heney (take care of her dad). Tanya is also survived by her best friend and aunt Tina Larose and uncle Steve Skrypnyk, aunt Julie and uncle David Larose, aunt Janice Larose, uncle Ron and aunt Sharon (Heney) Racine, uncle Liam and aunt Liz (Heney) Maguire, uncle Jason and aunt Jenn (Heney) St. Pierre, uncle Geoff and aunt Kate Heney, uncle Greg and aunt Lois Edwards, great-grandmother Evelyn "Mamgy" Brown and her many cousins Mark, Nikki, Natalie, Carina, Monica, Rory, Ryan, Shanna, Matthew, Megan, Baby Ava as well as her bunny "Cotton".

Special thanks to our friends at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Brenda Elliot, Deanna Lawson, Juan Bass and the wonderful staff of the Medical Day Unit, the Old 4 East, all the oncology families (we're pullin' for you), and all the departments that took such great care of Tanya. You all touched Tanya's life. Thanks to Corpus Christi School, though Tanya was only able to attend school for a few months, the kindness of the Corpus Christi family will always be remembered by her family and a special thanks to the people of Ottawa who rallied around our little girl in her time of need. This truly is a special place to live.

Funeral Mass celebrated on Friday, January 23, 2004 at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 194 Fourth Avenue.
