RAWLINS — Gloria E. Ainsworth, 78, died on Monday, March 3, 2003, at the Carbon County Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 27, 1924, in Rock Springs, the daughter of James and Ogda Cuthbertson. She attended grade school in Winton, and graduated from Reliance High School with the class of 1942.

She worked in the Union Pacific Coal Mine office in Winton and the Union Pacific Railroad office in Green River.

On July 3, 1945, she married Edward Ainsworth in Rock Springs. They later moved to Rawlins with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1954, and raised two children, Sue and Jim.

Mrs. Ainsworth's interests were her family, being outdoors, fly fishing, camping and rock hunting. She taught both her son and grandson how to fish.

She is survived by one son, Jim Ainsworth and wife Connie; one daughter, Sue Strickland and husband Tim, all of Rawlins; one brother, Delmer Cuthbertson and wife Dolores of Artesia, N.M.; five grandchildren, Dawn Meidinger and Craig Lerfald of Phoenix, Gayle and Abe Sanchez of Rawlins, David Meidinger and Jessica Broderick of Denver, Sara Ainsworth and Matt Shoudy of Seattle, and Vicki Ainsworth and Shawn Franson of Everett, Wash.; and four great-grandchildren, Nathan Johanson, Teairra Sanchez, Robb Broderick and Jakob Ainsworth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward in 1989; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 7, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Rostad Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Elizabeth Morgan officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at the Rawlins Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary chapel on Thursday, March 6, 2003, from 5-7 p.m.

Casketbearers will be Delmer Cuthbertson, Tim Strickland, David Meidinger, Abe Sanchez, Bob Zelenka and Jim Ainsworth.

Honorary bearers are Jim Hawk and Johnny Zelenka.
