Shepherd Monroe "S.M." Anderson - JOHNSON CITY
JOHNSON CITY - Shepherd Monroe "S.M." Anderson, 92, of 3379 Marbleton Road, Johnson City, died Sunday, January 4, 2009 in Johnson City.

He was a native of Unicoi County, son of the late Shepherd "Shep" Monroe and Willie King Anderson.

S.M. was a Captain in the U. S. Army during WWII and worked as a supervisor at Holston Defense for many years.

He was a member of the Unicoi United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and held various offices

throughout the years.

He also belonged to the Tri-Cities Beagle Club and had won many trophies for this favorite hobby.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Neal and Ray Anderson.

Survivors include: his wife, Elsie Ball Anderson of the home; a daughter and

son-in-law, Dena and Joseph "Joe" Cross of Piney Flats; a sister, Berta Ray

of Unicoi; a granddaughter, Katie Elizabeth Cross of Piney Flats and several

nieces and nephews.

A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. in

the South Chapel of the Morris – Baker Funeral Home under the direction of

Rev. Mack Houston.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight.

A committal service will be conducted on Tuesday, Januray 6, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home to leave in procession at 10:00 a.m.

Active pallbearers will be: Joe Cross, Johnny Goodin, Dennis Ball, Jeffrey "Pete" Johnson, David Goodin and David Goldthorp. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. James Ray and Robert Neal Anderson.
