…Amber's Leonard Muller Obituary read: "Amber Brockmeyer, 98, died Sunday, February 1, 2004, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home following a brief illness.

She was born on October 29, 1905, in Garber to Lyman and Rose (Borrett) Hansel. She was raised on a farm in the Garber community, educated in the rural school near the farm, and later graduated from Colesburg High School with the class of 1923. After her graduation, she taught in the rural school near Garber for a few years.

She was married to Milton Brockmeyer on February 18, 1926, at the Zion Methodist Church near Colesburg. Two sons were born to this union. They resided on a farm in the Zion Community until moving into the town of Colesburg when they retired in 1950. Milton passed away on March 2, 1982, but Amber continued to maintain her home in Colesburg until May of 2001, when she suffered a stroke and moved to the Convalescent Home in Edgewood.

Amber was an active member of the Colesburg United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Minnehaha Chapter of the Eastern Star, serving as the Treasurer of this organization for 42 years, a charter member of the Colesburg Garden Club, and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She also served on the Delaware County 4-H Committee for five years and on the Cancer Drive Committee in the county for many years. Amber enjoyed gardening, handwork and flowers. She was a resident of the Colesburg community for 78 years.

Survivors include her sons, Virgil (Janet) Brockmeyer, Colesburg, Rev. Myron (Delpha) Brockmeyer, Waterloo; four grandchildren, Jan (Terry) Brockmeyer, Cedar Rapids, Gina (Bryan) Hanna, Mason City, Diane Brockmeyer, Ankeny, Mark (Angela) Brockmeyer, Shenandoah; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; three sisters, Blanche Morley, Agnes Hansel, one in infancy and two brothers, Earl and Arthur Hansel."
