At the age of 18, she with her mother and brother came to America and settled in Franklin County, Iowa.
In 1853 she was united in the holy bonds of matrimony with David Hirschler, who departed this life November 1, 1901. This union was blessed with 13 children, 3 of whom preceded the mother in death, leaving 10 to mourn: six sons and four daughters, namely C. A., A. H., and O. M. Hirschler of Donnellson; J. H. and O. E. of California, and G. D. of Oregon; Mrs. Hulda Koller of Donnellson, and Mrs. Christina Krehbill, of Oregon; one brother Jacob Haury of Beedly, California; 39 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren, besides many other near relatives and dear friends.
The funeral services were held at the Mennonite church Friday, June 19, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. E. Kaufman, and interment was made in the Mennonite cemetery north of town. The following grandsons acted as pallbearers: Richard and Harold Koller, Ralph, Irwin, David and Karl Hirschler. The children were all here for the funeral but G. D. of Oregon, who was unable to come on account of sickness.
With the passing of Grandma Hirschler the Zion Mennonite Church loses a good, faithful, Christian woman and the last charter member of the Church. Her loving influence will go down through the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
